Sea Level Rise
  • Year2021

Carapace Island is conceptualized as an artificial floating island, that acts as a reserve with an array of resources, physical and biotic factors that are present in an area, such as to support the survival and reproduction of a particular species. Our project solves the problem of loss of natural habitat and breeding grounds due to sea-level rise in the region west of Key West, Florida. The design process started with the form development of the island which was deduced from the concept “Skelton of the sea'' i.e. the supportive framework of an animal body.
