Our main objective is to recreate the balance between nature and built environment for the city of Tarawa (Republic of Kiribati). Through clear strategies such as energy efficiency, adaptability and resiliency the project aims to give a new future to local communities. The floating dwellings are designed to expand, adapt and merge the indoor daily life with the outdoor activities by blurring the indoor-outdoor boundaries. Natural or typical local materials such as wood or metal panels, together with traditional patterns, are selected to blend in with the landscape and the built surroundings.
