The Last Resort Urban and productive model for both preservation and expansion for Pacific Islands endangered by sea level rise

Sea Level Rise
  • Year2021

he Last Resort aims to set a model for both preservation and potential expansion for Pacific Islands endangered by sea level rise. While preventing land erosion through mangrove trees and a wave-breaking system, urban development is enhanced above water. Then, following the organic symbolism of the reef, this system reproduces the existing urban tissue in platforms on piles. Connected to them, a series of “Productive units” for energy and agriculture are installed around the perimeter, which are adaptable to the energetic and food demands of the growing population.
