VARECHIUM Protect the marine biodiversity by reinforcing kelp forest ecosystem and by underwater farming.

  • Year2021

The project is situated in the Tasman Sea (Australia). The area's water temperature is rapidly rising and devastates local biodiversity linked to the kelp forest system. In order to combat this phenomenon, we propose an artificial oceanic reforestation basin along with a local, varied and balanced production chain all concentrated in an independent module. Inspired by kelp leaves, this underwater city floats partially and follows the ocean's movements. Its inhabitants repair this marine ecosystem, while living afloat close to water.
